Employment Checklist

To make yourself completely prepared for employment in Leeds and Grenville, make sure you have:

  • Ensured you have your SIN number or a valid work permit for Canada
  • Contacted Leeds and Grenville Employment and Education Centre if you are in Brockville/ Leeds region; CSE Consultingif you are in Prescott/ Kemptville/ Grenville region; or KEYS if you are in the Gananoque area, for access to community employment services

  • Found out whether your intended occupation is regulated (licensed) or not. If it is regulated, contacted your professional association to find out what are the requirements to obtain a license
  • Completed credential evaluation of your academic credentials if necessary
  • Contacted the Volunter Bureau of Leeds and Grenville to find out about volunteer opportunities
  • Considered internship and mentorship opportunities to obtain Canadian work experience
  • Utilized different strategies to job search: view job listings on company or customized employment websites, consistently monitor job advertisements in local media, or try professional networking and cold calls to area businesses
